"I'm a new big sister! Hip hip hooray!" / Audrey is one week old!

Audrey is one week old! Not yet sitting, just flailing :).

"Strong like mom"

Who knew that one week ago, when I wrote the last blog post, that we would be having Audrey the very same day the post went up! (I typically draft the post on Tuesday nights when Clara is sleeping, and it automatically uploads on Wednesday morning.) So in the interest of having two littles now, I'm just going to do a photo dump this week and one short story.

We've been trying to prepare Clara for being a big sister, reading lots of books and introducing her to little babies. One of the books has a line, "I'm a new big sister, hip hip hooray!" She loves to read it and this week, she visited Audrey and me in the hospital on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Each day she got a little more interested in baby Audrey. By Friday, Clara couldn't wait to give Audrey kisses, hold her by herself ("Clara do it!"), and push the bassinet with Audrey around the hospital halls! She is absolutely in love with baby Audrey to the extent she can kiss her and hold her. Otherwise, she kind of ignores Audrey, continuing the enamored life of a two year, playing with toys and asking for Sesame Street and Finding Dory. The best part of having the two of them around is when Clara pretends to cry like baby Audrey. Last night, we put her to bed and she spent at least 20 minutes fake crying in a high pitch, her "baby Audrey is crying" cry. Clara is being a dream of a big sister and Audrey is being a dream of a little sister. We are beyond the moon :).
