Two months!

Xinyi is two months old today and we came to San Diego so baby girl can meet her four of her grandparents, two on each side!  She also had her first set of vaccinations yesterday and did so well.  She screamed at the shock of each shot, but quickly calmed down shortly after with mommy and was a trooper the rest of the day!  We are so proud of her!  She also went 8 hours between feeding Thursday night, giving us more sleep in one stretch than many nights in total!  We are holding our breaths though, knowing it was probably a fluke, but hoping for more nights like that!

Here's our little cupcake butt!

Picture with her Auntie Eupheme :D

And her cousins Gemma and Archie

And two photos for her two months (because I love that silly grin she has in the blurry photo)!

Eight weeks old!

Xinyi is eight weeks old today!  She is growing up too fast -- it's unbelievable!  She has perfected her pouty face (sadly not pictured, can't quite get it on camera) and her smiles, and some of her 0-3 month clothing is getting snug!  She can hold her head up for 10-30 seconds during daddy daughter tummy time and is even more vocal than before!  Her favorite word?  "Geh"  It's her response to everything we say to her :).

Here is Xinyi with mommy just barely waking up from a nap.

And Xinyi with Nai Nai laughing up a storm!

And contemplating life...

Grammie's present came for Xinyi and she loves watching those floating toys!  Thanks Grammie!!

Here is Xinyi and her handsome daddy at Descanso gardens.

And finally, all those growth spurts really paid off because Xinyi grew so much this week she doesn't even fit in the chair anymore!

Just kidding :), it's just daddy being silly!

Here's our cutie pie smiling away for the camera :).  Happy eight weeks baby, we love you!

Seven weeks old and cooing!

It's been a challenging week.  Last week we dealt with a few days of Xinyi's six week growth spurt.  This week we have dealt with a few more days of having our happy baby turning into angry wailing baby in a split second, over and over and over again.  It might have to do with the fact that we are trying to gently sleep train her, but it also feels like she is just a demanding baby right now.  My sister in law told me that weeks six through eight are some of the hardest because it is the height of baby crying and fussiness.  I definitely feel that way!

But still, I choose to count my blessings:

Xinyi's amazing Grammie who came to rock her and give us a break,

My beautiful baby girl's smile,

My husband's wonderful sense of humor,

And Xinyi's present to us on Valentine's Day was letting us eat a hot dinner at a table in peace :)!

Here are my two loves!

Happy seven weeks dear daughter!  We love you so!

Six weeks old!

Six weeks!!  I don't understand how it has been six weeks since this little sweetie has arrived in our lives!  She is so much more alert and awake now.  Her little personality is finally coming out -- she smiles and follows our faces and coos back when we talk to her :).  She wants what she wants and will not wait for it!  But she loves being carried for her daily walk in her baby k'tan!  She is our little love and getting cuter every day!

Xinyi also got a sweet gift from her auntie Natalie and met some friends this week (and before too)!

Ladybug with Clara's birth information!  I love that little face!

My brother with Xinyi at birth!

Meeting her auntie k by FaceTime!  She slept through the whole thing with that glorious face :P.

My uncle and aunt also came to visit!

And so did some wonderful ladies from our church!

Finally, we met baby Jeàn Luc yesterday, two weeks old!  Xinyi finally met someone younger than her.  Dean and I did a baby swap!

Finally, I leave you with the view I currently have, baby girl snoozing away in her baby k'tan!

Happy six weeks Xinyi!!!

Growth spurts

Before Xinyi came along, I didn't know babies went through growth spurts.  During growth spurts, babies become very fussy, want to feed all the time, and either sleep a lot, or not at all.  Xinyi doesn't sleep well during growth spurts.  We went through the three week growth spurt while my mom was still here, so while it was painful, we had a lot of help.  Alas, the six week growth spurt decided to show up last night.  At first, I thought she might have been overstimulated and overtired, but today has been non stop feeding, crying, fussing and repeat.  I found an article that sums up today for me: http://nurshable.com/2012/05/27/six-week-growth-spurt/

People always tell you the only consistent thing about babies is that they change.  Xinyi was doing so well!  We had a nice routine going and twice she had even gone 5 hours between feeds!  Five hours!  I told a good friend today that I haven't slept more than 2 or 3 hours straight since December 28th, 2014.  For those two nights where she went five hours between feedings, I got 4 glorious hours of sleep!  And then last night, I was lucky to get 1.5 hours once at the beginning of the night.  Which is very sad to me, because I love my sleep.

Miss fussy pants has struggled through today, and Shane and I have struggled with her.  Fortunately, growth spurts typically last 2-3 days, up to a week.  Either way, sometimes just knowing and accepting something less than ideal is occurring helps with the internal coping mechanisms.  I hope this is a short spurt, but even if it isn't, Xinyi is currently sleeping on me.  And having a tiny sleeping human on you is a pretty incredible feeling.  So I'll cling on to that for now :).

Five weeks old and smiling!

Xinyi is five weeks old today!  She is smiling back when we coo at her, likes walks with mommy and daddy, and has enjoyed car and stroller rides to Descanso Gardens and our local Montrose downtown area :).

Lopsided smile for Grammie

Ugly pre-sleeping face with mommy, she passed out shortly after the picture

Less ugly sleeping face :)

Another smiley face, but I haven't captured her full smile yet, I'll keep trying!

Thanks to Aunt Christina for Xinyi's sweater, it kept her nice and warm today!
